Master Gardener Hotline
The Master Gardener Hotline is both a telephone and a walk-in service. It is one of the main ways Bernalillo County Master Gardeners serve the public. The Hotline is staffed from March 1st to October 31st at two locations:
1. Bernalillo County Cooperative Extension Service, 1510 Menaul Blvd. NW, 243-1386, from 9:30 am until 2:30 pm Monday through Friday.
2. Albuquerque Garden Center, 10120 Lomas Blvd. NE, 292-7144, from 9:30 am until 2:30 pm Monday through Friday.
Call the Master Gardener Hotline with your gardening questions. The phones and offices are staffed by volunteers who are trained to answer telephone queries from the public about a variety of local horticultural problems. Answers to these questions are based on official recommendations of New Mexico State University that have resulted from extensive research under controlled conditions. They reflect sound scientific reasoning. Common questions include:
How often do I water in the heat of the summer compared to the fall or winter?
How can I identify and control the bugs on my zucchini?
Does the city of Albuquerque have acidic or alkaline soil?
What shade trees grow best in Albuquerque?
My lawn has brown spots. What is happening to it?
Bring samples of plants that show damage to either Hotline. You may also bring photographs of insects or other damage to help the Master Gardeners identify what is happening and suggest a remedy. If neither a phone call nor a visit to a Hotline location helps, Master Gardeners are available to visit your home to diagnose the problem and help you solve it.
We look forward to hearing from you!
